Pension Credit and Winter Fuel Payment

Age UK Bradford District are looking for support to help older people save their Winter Fuel Payment by applying for Pension Credit.

Over 12,500 older people across Bradford, Keighley and Shipley could still keep this essential support this winter, these people are eligible for Pension Credit but don’t claim it.

The Government’s decision to means test the Winter Fuel Payment at such short notice and on top of rising fuel prices from October will leave many older people facing difficult decision this winter about how to spend their money. The decision could be between staying warm, buying food, or paying their housing and other essential costs. This could have devastating impacts on their health and wellbeing.

By raising awareness and talking to the older people that you know, meet through your work, have in your family or your community, you could make a world of difference to their lives and experiences this winter. More information can be found in the Age UK Guide to Pension Credit.

Age UK Bradford District is standing with older people and have this week launched a campaign to raise awareness of Pension Credit and how to apply for it as detailed in the poster. They will be delivering information and support through their Advice Line and specially designated Pension Credit drop-in sessions at their Community Hubs across the district.
